Saturday, February 3, 2018, folks gathered at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte for presentations and discussions on architectural millwork. All photos by Phil Goodwin.

First Session

A well-designed architectural millwork package adds value to your home and increases the health and well-being of the people living there. We discussed the many components and challenges that can arise when working with raw materials and natural species of wood on the job site — challenges that if considered at the beginning stage of the design process, could maximize the value of the project relative to the budget and help to meet and exceed the client expectations.

Second Session

Participants learned to design classically inspired rooms. The instructor demonstrated how to design and assemble the classically inspired moldings and profiles of the interiors of the Duke Mansion (where the seminar was held) using current wood moldings and profiles available today. Participants discovered how to design classically inspired rooms using simple and easy to understand guidelines used by builders and craftspeople for centuries.
